The yellow-wattled bulbul is another Philippine endemic seen fairly commonly on Siargao Island. The wattles in its name are the bright yellow rings seen around this bulbul’s eyes.

Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Great shots and information Greg! Loving the entire website and am very happy someone is doing something like this for the island again. Richard Parker (R.I.P) used to have a website (www.coconutstudio.com) many years ago where he featured local Siargao Flora and Fauna. It’s offline now, but you can still find some of his articles scattered through his old blogspot. Anyways, I saw the same bird (the Bulbul) just sitting near my breakfast nook out here in Union a couple of days ago and didn’t know what it was. I thought it was some sort of brown cardinal.
