The Pied Triller

The pied triller, a year-round resident here on Siargao, can be frequently seen around habitation, farmland and forest edges.

Belonging to the family of cuckooshrikes, the triller can be found throughout the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore,  and Thailand.

Besides the trill that gives this bird its name, it also makes a ‘kek-kek’ or ‘chack’ call. The pied triller is easily distinguished from other birds of similar size and coloration by the white supercilium (the line running above its eyes).
