The Philippine magpie-robin (Copsychus mindanensis) is another bird endemic to the archipelago and seen quite frequently, if not daily, here on Siargao.

Its sing-song melodic call makes it a welcome backyard visitor but has attracted the attentions of the captive pet trade as well.

The local name for this bird is ‘tokryotok‘ and it can be spotted in forests as well as near habitation. The magpie-robin being a kind of flycatcher feeds mostly on insects but also nectar and even geckos and small fish.
